Description

Providing you with pure luxury whilst you sleep, this duvet provides unsurpassed insulation whilst also being exceptionally lightweight and fluffy. It is filled with the unique down from the Eider duck, which is hand collected in Iceland and sent to our very own textile factory in Lancashire where the duvet is handcrafted. An introduction to Eiderdown Eiderdown is extremely rare and is the pinnacle of all downs due to its insulation characteristics. It is produced by the Eider duck and offers the ultimate in luxury. Eider ducks return year after year to Iceland’s rugged coast to nest. They are exposed to bitterly cold Icelandic temperatures and polar storms and use their unique down to protect them. The female Eider duck sheds her down in the breeding season, which line the nest for her eggs. This acts as a protection for the next generation of Eider duck. What is so unique about Eiderdown? Icelandic Eiderdown has extra large clusters of down which retain heat and give unsurpassed insulation, whilst also being much lighter than other feathers. This means you feel perfectly warm, without being weighed down. This duvet has a premium cotton cover, providing you with pure luxury and promising years of use. Is Eiderdown responsibly sourced? We work with accredited farmers who provide sanctuaries for the ducks during their nesting season. The Eider ducks are free range and their down is only collected by the farmers once they have hatched their eggs and fled the nest. Our suppliers are monitored to ensure they practise the highest standards of animal welfare. Made by us at our textile factory in Lancashire Since 1953, our expert Partners have designed and manufactured a range of high-quality textiles at our UK factory, Herbert Parkinson. This includes our naturally filled bedding and our Made to Measure service for curtains, blinds and cushions. Combining traditional handmade processes with state-of-the-art technology, our skilled Partners see each product through the entire creation process, ensuring it meets the design and quality standards we’re known for. We want you to be as proud of it as we are. Herbert Parkinson also offers a range of bespoke services, so if you can’t see exactly what you’re looking for or have specific requirements, do visit one of our shops and a Partner will be able to advise. About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
