Description

Designed by Swoon, made by us. With a shared commitment to exceptional design and quality, we've collaborated to create an exclusive furniture collection for the modern home. Taking cues from our popular Franklin range, we've created outdoor furniture inspired by Franklin's distinctive, geometric design and Scandinavian Mid-century aesthetic. The rich tones of acacia wood bring a familiar natural warmth, with brass-finished accents and tall, tapering legs adding poise and elegance. All our outdoor wooden furniture ranges are made from sustainably sourced, naturally weather-resistant tropical hardwoods. All our outdoor cushions are shower-resistant and our seating is rigorously weight-tested, ensuring stability and strength. Key features: Weather-resistant FSC-certified acacia wood Geometric design and elegant tapered legs Shower-resistant plump seat and backrest cushions Feet caps protect flooring and furniture legs and are adjustable in height for uneven surfaces Team with our Franklin range of garden furniture Garden furniture care: To keep your outdoor furniture in the best condition, store it in a cool, dry, well-ventilated spot indoors over the winter. If it’s staying outside, use an outdoor furniture cover whenever the weather is wet or unseasonal. Make sure furniture is clean and dry before storing it away and keep cushions in a clean and dry place when not in use. By choosing this product you are supporting responsible management of the world's forests. The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) is a global, not-for-profit organisation that helps take care of forests and the people and wildlife that call them home. To learn more, visit fsc.org. Choose the perfect outdoor furniture We have a selection of wooden furniture for you to choose from which will suit the home or garden. Strong, durable and resistant to rot and decay, this furniture requires little maintenanceEucalyptusDistinctive scent and appearance which darkens as it ages. AcaciaNaturally durable, this wood is incredibly hard and is unlikely to suffer damage during everyday use. It provides similar natural benefits to teak, yet unlike many other hardwoods, acacia is also relatively fast growing which minimises the environmental impact.

Our Stylist Says

I’d call this the Franklin armchair, and what really appeals is its clean lines and warm acacia frame - perfect if you’re after a laid-back mid-century look or a more contemporary Scandi feel. Its neutral cushions let you introduce pops of colour through cushions or a lightweight throw without clashing, while the FSC-certified timber ensures it works well in eco-conscious schemes. Pair it with a low coffee table and a jute rug for an easygoing living area, or use it in a sunroom alongside potted plants for a relaxed garden-room vibe. The seat height and straight arms also make it ideal for occasional dining or as a desk chair - you can simply swap in a sleek lumbar cushion for extra support.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
