Description

So rattan is having a little revival and we're here for it. See how it breaks up the design and gives the drawers a fresh finish, not to mention the contrast it creates against the solid oak frame. We've made this chest from a combination of solid oak and MDF so it's built-to-last and its rounded edges and gently curved legs give it a softer shape. And with three spacious drawers, we don't think you'll struggle with storage space. Want to see it first? You may want to see and get a feel for the furniture in one of our shops before ordering. We'll be able to tell you where the range you'd like to view is on display.

Our Stylist Says

I’m a big fan of this rattan-front chest because its warm cane detail brings texture without overpowering a room. The matt-black frame and simple legs give it a slight mid-century edge, so it sits just as comfortably in a Scandi-style bedroom as it does in a coastal or laid-back boho lounge. For styling, keep the top neat - a low lamp, a small pot plant and a tray for everyday bits will look crisp. Tuck slim baskets inside the drawers to help keep linens or stationery organised, and pair it with soft neutrals and natural materials (linen, jute, woven rugs) to let the cane really sing.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
