Description

We've designed our Poise extending dining table with hard-wearing oak, and splayed legs which are all finished with rounded edges. It has a solid oak base to ensure it's stable, durable and eye-catching in your modern home. With seating space for six to 10 people in total, its clean-lined, Scandi-inspired frame is finished with soft edges to impart a more-relaxed aesthetic in your space. We've coated the wood in a lacquer to highlight the warm tone and natural grain of the wood. Want to see it first? You may want to see and get a feel for the furniture in one of our shops before ordering. We'll be able to tell you where the range you'd like to view is on display.

Our Stylist Says

I love how this oak extension table keeps things simple yet adaptable - its clean lines and light tone suit both modern Scandi schemes and more relaxed country styles. When it’s closed, it’s perfect for everyday family meals; pull out the leaf and you’ve got space for extra guests without needing a separate buffet. For styling, start with a neutral runner or woven table mat to highlight the wood grain, then mix in chairs of different shapes or colours for a laid-back, collected look. A low ceramic vase of greenery or a trio of candle holders will add interest without getting in the way when the table’s extended.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
