Description
We've made this sturdy divan base from responsibly-sourced pine wood. Non-sprung, it's designed with a platform top which provides a firmer feel for sleepers who prefer more support. Practical and stylish, this divan base offers the ultimate storage solution helping you maximise your bedroom space. Divan base with recycled cotton panel The central/inner panel found on top of the divan base is made from recycled cotton fabric sourced from the Better Cotton initiative mass balance programme. This unbleached panel may help reduce any mattress movement on the divan. The breathable, natural fibre panel is fire resistant without the use of traditional FR chemicals. Choose from one of our fabrics: Our Band A fabric, Cotton Effect has a laid-back and fine-textured look that looks like cotton, but it's made from durable polyester fibres Our Band A fabric, Brushed Tweed is made with a brushed herringbone weave that has a cosy wool look and soft 'peach skin' feel. It's really hard-wearing and a brilliant all-rounder Our Band B fabric, Deep Velvet will bring warmth and luxury to your bedroom. It's a short pile velvet with a soft, plush feel Our Band B fabric, Soft Touch Chenille is made from a blend of fibres that give it a super-soft feel and added durability Our Band B fabric, Relaxed Linen gives you the fine texture of cotton, the durability of synthetic fibres and the laid-back look of linen Want to see it first? Our Stylist Says
I love the John Lewis Non Sprung Classic Maxi Divan Base for its clean lines and versatile design, making it a practical yet stylish choice for both contemporary and traditional interiors. Its understated aesthetic makes it a flexible foundation that works well with a variety of bed frames, headboards, and textiles. This divan base is ideal for maximising storage in smaller bedrooms thanks to its spacious interior, and its neutral tone provides a calm, understated backdrop that can be easily dressed up with textiles or decorative bed accessories. For styling, consider pairing it with plush, textured bedding and layered cushions to soften the look or add a splash of colour for more visual interest. Its simple, timeless appeal ensures it fits seamlessly into a range of interior themes, from minimalist to classic.

About John Lewis
A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion
John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.
What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.
Adapting to Changing Times
Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.
Commitment to a Greater Purpose
John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
