Description

Hand knotted by skilled artisans in India, this rug is made using sari silk for a beautifully tonal design. This rug has been knotted by hand, the oldest and most individual way a rug can be made. This involves an intricate process of weaving by hand on a loom where yarns are tied one at a time, giving the rug a durable construction. About your new rug We recommend John Lewis & Partners Rug Hold Underlay. It prevents your rug from moving underfoot and protects against colour transfer to the floor Minimal pile shedding may occur. This will reduce over time, and should not have an impact on the lifespan or performance of your rug Vacuum occasionally. When vacuuming your rug, use suction only. Rotating brushes may damage your rug Blot any spills with a clean, dry cloth. Do not rub. Spot clean using a mild soap solution Textile backed Specialist cleaning recommended

Our Stylist Says

I love this rug for its vibrant yet sophisticated colour palette, which can inject life into neutral interiors or complement more colourful spaces. Its size makes it versatile - perfect under a dining table or as a statement piece in a living room. The sari silk adds subtle shimmer and texture, giving it a luxurious feel without overwhelming the space. For styling, consider pairing it with simple, streamlined furniture to let the pattern and colours stand out, and add textured accessories like cushions or throws for a layered look. It works particularly well in contemporary, boho, or ethnic-inspired schemes, but with the right pairing, it can also elevate classic interiors. Practical tip: to maintain its appearance, rotate periodically and avoid placing it in high-traffic areas to reduce wear.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
