A reproduction of Bust of a Woman with Her Head Resting on Her Hand, from 1935 by Henri Matisse. Originally a charcoal drawing, characteristic of the renowned artist's later work. Made in the UK, the frame is made of solid, hand-stained ash wood. The high-quality image resolution is reproduced on fine art paper and presented behind high-clarity and UV-protected acrylic. Henri Matisse was known for his fluid use of colour and is recognised as a leading figure in modern art in the early twentieth century. Over six decades, he carved a career using all forms of media, including drawing, sculpture and printmaking. Born 1869 in Le Cateau-Cambrésis in northern France, he was originally a legal clerk. He began drawing at an evening class before moving to Paris in 1891 to pursue his vocation as an artist. It wasn't until the beginning of the twentieth century when he had his major creative breakthrough. A visit to Saint-Tropez inspired him to paint a bright, light-dappled canvas. He continued this style, which became known as Fauvism. Some of his most noted pieces happened during his later years. He was often bedridden due to illness and surgery but he still managed to produce breakthrough works using paper cut-outs. Have you thought about wall hooks and fittings?
