Our Emily ottoman bed frame is designed to free-up your floor space and bring a clever storage option into your bedroom. We've kept the design simple and practical, fusing clean lines with soft edges, and we've incorporated a large, well-padded headboard. With the help of hydraulic arms and a handle, it's easy to lift up the mattress to reveal a functional storage space in the base. Sprung slats provide a more supportive foundation for your mattress. Built with Smart Slats This bed frame is designed with wider slats at the shoulders, lumbar and feet. They provide maximum support for you and your mattress so that you experience perfect spinal alignment while you sleep. The standard slat caps are black so we have added grey slat caps to ensure that you know where to place the wider slats. Choose from one of our fabrics: Our Band A fabric, Cotton Effect has a laid-back and fine-textured look that looks like cotton, but it's made from durable polyester fibres Our Band A fabric, Brushed Tweed is made with a brushed herringbone weave that has a cosy wool look and soft 'peach skin' feel. It's really hard-wearing and a brilliant all-rounder Our Band A fabric, Soft Weave has a casual cotton look with a brushed finish that's soft-to-touch and a suble texture that's created by slight variations in the tones of the woven fibres Our Band B fabric, Deep Velvet will bring warmth and luxury to your bedroom. It's a short pile velvet with a soft, plush feel Our Band B fabric, Soft Touch Chenille is made from a blend of fibres that give it a super-soft feel and added durability Our Band B fabric, Boucle is luxe and oh-so cosy. This plush knitted fabric is super-soft and durable with a thick texture that calls for comfort Our Band B fabric, Deep Velvet will bring warmth and luxury to your bedroom. It's a short pile velvet with a soft, plush feel Our Band B fabric, Mole is a soft and cosy woven wool-blend. Piling and bobbling may occur naturally over time Our Band B fabric, Cord is rich in texture and available in neutral shades that will suit every space. John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.
What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.
Adapting to Changing Times
Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.
Commitment to a Greater Purpose
John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
