Description

Blissfully soft and naturally breathable, Mulberry silk has benefits that go beyond the bedroom. With a feel that's luxurious and soothing to the touch. The silk has properties that are more than surface deep though. CREATED FOR REAL LIFE, it's naturally more moisture-repellent than other bedding fabrics, helping your skin stay hydrated and your night cream work that bit better! The super-smooth finish helps maintain moisture levels in your hair, stopping it from becoming static and banishing 'bed-head' for fewer tangles in the morning. It's also helpful for those with sensitive skin as it’s naturally hypoallergenic. It might sound counterintuitive but silk, as well as being supremely soft, is also extremely strong. Because individual silk threads have inherent strength (a single silk fibre is stronger than an equal thickness of steel) and bind easily together, it makes silk fabric very durable. What that means in a practical sense is that, with care, these pillowcases will last you just as long as those made from cotton or linen. Our pillowcases are made from the highest quality 19-momme Mulberry silk. 'Momme' refers to the weight in lbs of a piece of silk 45 inches x 100 yards in size. Just in case it comes up at your next pub quiz. Made with organic silk and also Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) certified. This assures that high social and environmental standards of manufacture have been met across the entire textile supply chain. We recommend washing this silk product on a delicate cycle, using a specialist silk detergent and washing inside out in a laundry bag. We also recommend not to use fabric softener, to keep away from direct sunlight and to lightly press on the reverse with a cool iron.

Our Stylist Says

I love this set because the print adds a touch of colour and pattern without overwhelming a room, making it a versatile choice for various interiors. The silk fabric is a real bonus for adding a luxurious feel while also being gentle on the skin and hair-ideal for a good night's sleep. It works particularly well in bedrooms with classic or eclectic decor, offering a sophisticated pop of colour. For styling tips, pair it with neutral bedlinen to let the pillow and mask set stand out, or coordinate with other soft furnishings in complementary shades for a cohesive look. This set is great for adding a subtle layer of elegance and colour, especially in understated or contemporary spaces.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
