How would we describe our Calia range of furniture? Well, it's loved for its industrial aesthetic and strong welded iron details, which have a wire-brushed and distressed finish. But it's also loved for its natural charm. Individual slats of solid oak make up the rustic surfaces which have been thoughtfully chosen by skilled craftsmen and women. They ensure that the natural pattern of the wood grain, even with its unique irregularities, uphold the design and quality standards that we're known for. This ensures our Calia range offers a look that's as authentic as possible. This side table can do it all. A spot for your favourite photo and a table lamp? Check. Sick of your desk and want to migrate to the sofa for the last hour of work? Perfect! It's really practically sized and its slender frame means it won't take up too much room. Worth knowing Oak is a natural, living material, and part of its charm is that it develops over time. This means that surface splits may start to appear with the natural movement of the wood. Knots will vary in size and location and a subtle colour variation can also be expected. These distinctive qualities give the range a unique feel, as no two pieces will be exactly the same. To keep your furniture looking its best, we recommend periodic oiling and oiling before first use. This is applicable to the Oak version only, as the Chestnut version has a lacquered finish. John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
