Description
Our Calia range is made predominantly from solid American white oak. Calia has a wire-brushed, distressed finish that offers a rustic look and tactile feel, making the most of the beautiful natural grain of the wood. This "rough-and-ready" appearance is enhanced with the inclusion of welded iron bases and handles, giving the range an industrial, vintage edge. The compact footprint of this small desk is perfect for home working and has a pair of sliding drawers so you can tidy everything away at the end of the day. Worth knowing Oak is a natural, living material, and part of its charm is that it develops over time. This means that surface splits may start to appear with the natural movement of the wood. Knots will vary in size and location and a subtle colour variation can also be expected. These distinctive qualities give the range a unique feel, as no two pieces will be exactly the same. To keep your furniture looking its best, we recommend periodic oiling and oiling before first use. This is applicable to the Oak version only, as the Dark version has a lacquered finish. John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
