Description

Suitable for the garden or conservatory, our Burford garden furniture is made of FSC-certified acacia wood with a limed finish for protection and to highlight the beauty of the wood grain. Seats and curved backrests on the seating in this range are made of weather-resistant synthetic wicker with an attractive 6mm-thick, half-round weave design. Easy to maintain, the wicker is waterproof and UV-protected to prevent fading so the furniture can be left outside throughout the seasons. Key features: Pair of garden dining chairs FSC-certified acacia wood frames and legs Attractive 6mm-thick, half-round weave design Suitable for indoor and outdoor use Matches outdoor furniture in our Burford range Garden furniture care: To keep your outdoor furniture in the best condition, store it in a cool, dry, well-ventilated spot indoors over the winter. Choose the perfect outdoor furniture We have a selection of wooden furniture for you to choose from which will suit the home or garden. Below are a few options to consider when choosing your perfect outdoor furniture. Teak (Best)A premium and popular wood with an attractive appearance which ages beautifully. Strong, durable and resistant to rot and decay, this furniture requires little maintenanceEucalyptus (Better)Distinctive scent and appearance which darkens as it ages. Provides similar natural benefits to teak including moisture resistance, hardness and durability. It's plentiful in supply which makes the furniture an inexpensive choice Acacia (Good)Naturally durable, this wood is incredibly hard and is unlikely to suffer damage during everyday use. It provides similar natural benefits to teak, yet unlike many other hardwoods, acacia is also relatively fast growing which minimises the environmental impact. The majority of our furniture ranges have been hand woven using a synthetic wicker; the thinner the weave, the longer it takes for more skilled workers to complete. All our handwoven furniture ranges are made from synthetic wicker. This looks like natural wicker but has the advantage of being weatherproof, low maintenance, and resistant to both UV light and tearing. All our outdoor cushions are shower-resistant and our seating is rigorously weight-tested, ensuring stability and strength. All weave types are durable so they’ll last throughout the seasons All woven outdoor furniture is UV protected so it will not fade in direct sunlight All woven outdoor furniture is easy to maintain, simply wipe clean using warm water FlatA weave of various widths which offers incredible value for money Half roundMore detailed with a 3D effect, the half round is a round weave in half which displays a wicker appearance on the top and hollowed underside Double half roundA double strand of half round, this is a wider width of weave which achieves an expensive appearanceRound weaveA very tight weave which is available in various widths, from 2mm to 5mm RopeA selection of our ranges have been made using rope. The yarn is made up of 10,000 (approx) woven strands with a double core for extreme strength, does not attract mould even if wet for a long time and is UV resistant.

Our Stylist Says

I’m a fan of these Burford garden chairs for their light, woven texture and durable FSC-certified acacia frame - they bring a relaxed, natural feel without looking fussy. They slot straight into Scandi, coastal or modern boho schemes and are equally at home around a simple oak table indoors or under a covered patio. For styling, add slim, neutral-toned cushions to soften the seat and tie in a jute rug beneath. Group with terracotta pots or a low-shelf plant stand to enhance the organic vibe, and if using outside, keep them under a canopy or indoors over winter to protect the weaving.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
