Description

Product Information The Barbican range features a distinctive curved silhouette and stitched back detail for a retro-inspired look, supported by fibre wrapped foam seats for extra comfort. A classic mattress type for a peaceful night's sleepThis sofa bed has an open sprung mattress which is only slightly less deep than a standard double bed mattress. Open coils and generous layers of polyester fibre fillings provide soft cushioning and comfort. Suitable for occasional use. Sits like a sofa, sleeps like a bedThis sofa bed has a 2-fold folding mechanism. When assembled as a sofa the seats are supported by flexible webbing which is the same as traditional sofas. Unfold once and it opens into the bed, which is supported by beech slats much like many beds. This combination of webbing and slats means it's not a case of either a comfortable sofa or a comfortable bed. You get both. Working in partnership with The Reuse NetworkWe're proud to work with The Reuse Network, an organisation that supports reuse charities across the UK who aim to alleviate poverty, reduce waste, tackle climate change and support vulnerable people and communities. We donate old sofas we no longer need, like those used as display models on our shopfloors, and we can also donate yours too on your behalf. We've been donating for over 10 years and in that time have collected over 47,000 sofas and supported over 13,000 households. When you order a new sofa in one of our shops ask a Partner about how to donate your old sofa, or check the Sofa Reuse box when ordering online. For a small fee we'll collect your pre-loved sofa and make sure it goes somewhere it's really needed, rather than ending up in landfill. It's the little thingsWe care about our furniture; how it's designed, the materials used and the people who make it. That's why every detail is carefully considered, with more than 20 quality checks, to ensure you're as proud of it as we are. Try before you buyWe're confident in our furniture's quality, but it's always a good idea to check that it's a good personal fit for you. Our Stylist Says

I’m a fan of the Barbican sofa-bed for its neat proportions and unfussy silhouette - it sits comfortably in a small living room, home office or guest space without dominating the floorplan. The dark legs give it a grounded, slightly mid-century feel, while the deep, button-back cushions keep it looking pulled-together even when it’s in day-use. Styling tip: soften its clean lines with a mix of textured cushions and a woven throw in complementary tones, then zone the seating area with a low-pile rug and a slim side table or floor lamp. It works equally well against a white or muted pastel wall, or as a contrast piece in a room with rich accent hues.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
