Description

The simple Wellington Rug will bring a touch of comfort as well as style to your home décor. Hand tufted by skilled artisans using 100% wool sourced from India, this rug is wonderfully soft and the solid, block colour design will perfectly offset your other furnishings as part of your wider colour scheme. The John Lewis Foundation: This rug has been handmade in an area of India where not all children have access to education. Through the John Lewis Foundation, which was set up to help improve the well-being of disadvantaged communities, we have worked with a local charity Care & Fair India to fund the building and running of a new school offering secondary education to teenage girls who would not otherwise have this opportunity. John Lewis Foundation, a registered charity: 11181620.The John Lewis Foundation was established to benefit communities in the UK and overseas. Since 2007, it's supported 50 charities in 9 countries promoting education, enterprise and employment. About your new rug We recommend. It prevents your rug from moving underfoot and protects against colour transfer to the floor As this rug is made using natural fibres, shedding is to be expected as this is a natural characteristic of wool. This will decrease over time if care instructions are followed accordingly and shouldn’t affect your rug’s lifespan or performance. When you first get your rug, please use the brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner whilst the shedding dies down. After that, when vacuuming your rug, use suction only. Rotating brushes may damage the fibres. Blot any spills with a clean, dry cloth. Do not rub or use harsh detergents. Latex backed therefore not suitable for underfloor heating. Specialist cleaning recommended. Attend to spillages immediately and blot with a clean, dry cloth to prevent staining. Dilute a small amount of appropriate carpet shampoo in water. Dampen a colourfast cloth in the diluted shampoo solution and dab the rug, lightly agitating, moving in the direction of the pile. Treat the whole rug and not just the affected area. To restore the appearance of the affected area, use a soft bristled brush to gently comb in the direction of the pile. Allow the rug to thoroughly dry.

Our Stylist Says

The John Lewis & Partners Wellington rug is a versatile piece that adds a touch of colour and texture to any room. I love its rich teal tone, which works particularly well in neutral or pared-back interiors, creating a focal point without overpowering the space. It's ideal for living rooms or bedrooms where a splash of colour can enhance the overall scheme. Practical styling tips include layering it with smaller, patterned cushions or throws for added visual interest, and positioning it under a coffee table or bed to anchor a seating or sleeping area. Its size also makes it a great choice for larger open-plan spaces or to define zones within a room. Durable and easy to maintain, this rug can really elevate the overall look of your interior.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
