Description
A framed print of 'Carlyle Square, Chelsea' in London, 1946-7, by Robert Buhler, from the Tate collection. Made in the UK exclusively for John Lewis & Partners. The black frame is made of FSC-certified solid ayous wood, sourced from sustainably managed forests. Framed with a card mount and glass front, it arrives ready to hang on your wall. After studying commercial art in Basel and Zurich, in 1934 Robert Buhler (1916-1989) enrolled at St Martins School of Art in London. He then won a scholarship to the Royal College of Art, but only stayed six weeks. His restrained tones and a preference for painting towns and landscapes were influenced by friends in The Euston Road group. Also much admired for his portraits, Buhler loved painting friends including poet Stephen Spender and artist Francis Bacon. Have you thought about wall hooks and fittings?

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.
