A framed print of 'No.VI / Composition No.II', 1920, by Piet Mondrian, from the Tate collection. Made in the UK exclusively for John Lewis & Partners. The black frame is made of FSC-certified solid ayous wood, sourced from sustainably managed forests. Framed with a card mount and glass front, it arrives ready to hang on your wall. Piet Mondrian (1872-1944) was a Dutch pioneer of abstract art, who progressed from landscape pictures to geometric abstract works. He studied painting at the Amsterdam Academy. From 1908, he began to work in a vividly coloured style. While living in Paris, he was influenced by Cubism, which he carried to the point of abstraction. After returning to Holland, he developed a more simplified abstract style he called Neo Plasticism. Have you thought about wall hooks and fittings?
I love this print for its fresh take on a classic Mondrian composition, making it a versatile statement piece. It works particularly well in modern or minimal interiors, where its clean lines and bold blocks of colour can really stand out against neutral backgrounds. To style it effectively, consider pairing it with simple furniture and accessories in monochrome or muted shades to let the artwork bring a splash of colour. It also looks great above a sofa or dining table as a focal point, adding an artful touch without overpowering the space. Its size makes it easy to incorporate into both larger living rooms and smaller, more intimate spaces-just ensure it’s hung at eye level for maximum impact.
