A framed print of 'Snow Falls on Exmoor' in Devon, 1939, by John A. Park, from the Tate collection. Made in the UK exclusively for John Lewis. The black frame is made of FSC-certified solid ayous wood, sourced from sustainably managed forests. Framed with a card mount and glass front, it arrives ready to hang on your wall. John Park, best known for his impressionistic depictions of boats in St Ives harbour, Cornwall, painted on the spot 'en plein-air', giving his paintings endless movement and reflections. A founder member of the St Ives Society of Artists in 1927, he was probably their best known member and most highly rated artist. Painter Sven Berlin thought him one of the best English colourists, remarking, "He painted like an angel - simply cathedrals of light." Have you thought about wall hooks and fittings?
This print is a great addition for adding a touch of tranquillity to a variety of interiors, particularly those with a neutral or Scandinavian palette. Its subdued colours and wintery scene lend themselves well to cosy living rooms, bedrooms, or even hallways where a calming visual anchor is desired. I love pairing it with simple, understated furnishings-think natural woods, soft textiles, and minimal accessories-to let the artwork stand out without competing for attention. For practical styling, hang it at eye level in a grouped arrangement or as a focal point above a console or sofa, and consider using a coordinating mount or framing tone to enhance its visual impact. Overall, it offers a subtle seasonal charm with enduring appeal.
