Description

Hand-tufted and hand-looped, our 100% wool Kastrup Rug is offered in a unique, check design and features contrasting colours and shapes making it the perfect way to add interest to a neutrally toned room. The John Lewis Foundation: This rug has been handmade in an area of India where not all children have access to education. Through the John Lewis Foundation, which was set up to help improve the well-being of disadvantaged communities, we have worked with a local charity Care & Fair India to fund the building and running of a new school offering secondary education to teenage girls who would not otherwise have this opportunity. John Lewis Foundation, a registered charity: 11181620.The John Lewis Foundation was established to benefit communities in the UK and overseas. Since 2007, it's supported 50 charities in 9 countries promoting education, enterprise and employment. Latex backed About your new rug We recommend. It prevents your rug from moving underfoot and protects against colour transfer to the floor Natural fibres may shed. This will reduce over time, and shouldn’t affect your rug’s lifespan or performance When vacuuming your rug, use suction only. Rotating brushes may damage the fibres Blot any spills with a clean, dry cloth. Do not rub or use harsh detergents. Latex backed so unsuitable for use in rooms with underfloor heating.

Our Stylist Says

I love this Kastrup rug for its bold, geometric design and versatile colour palette, making it a great statement piece without overwhelming a room. It works particularly well in modern or contemporary interiors, providing a pop of interest in minimal spaces, but it can also complement eclectic or Scandinavian styles perfectly. For practical styling, try layering it over neutral flooring to let the pattern stand out, or pair it with simple furnishings to create a balanced look. It’s durable enough for high-traffic areas, making it ideal for living rooms or hallways, and the size makes it a good fit under a coffee table or dining table. Keep the surrounding decor minimal to let the rug really shine, and try mixing textures with plush cushions or throws for a cosy yet stylish finish.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
