Description

A plain blackout blind which means it eliminates light and gives complete privacy. You can get a sound night’s sleep and not be disturbed by the early rising sun in the summer months Key features: Spring mechanism making it the safest blind solution Can be installed either inside or outside the window recess, to the wall or ceiling Width can be cut to size. Just be aware that by changing the size of the blind it reduces the overall weight, which will impact the blind's tension Supplied with easy fit universal brackets Warm in winter, cool in summer As the blackout lining on this blind blocks out sunlight it helps keep your room cool as well as dark. This 3 layer blackout coating also adds an extra layer of insulation, giving the blind thermal properties which aren’t found on non-blackout blinds. It protects against both heat loss and heat gain, regulating the temperature of your room so you’re kept warm in winter and cool in summer. The spring mechanism in this blind makes it the safest solution for rooms where there might be children as there's no cord mechanism which children can become entangled in. The spring mechanism is pre-tensioned so easy to use, simply pulling on the ring-pull attached to the bottom of the blind. It's also more discreet than a side chain as all the component parts are hidden within the blind tube. Worth knowing... The width stated in our product specifications is the total width of the blind including mechanisms and brackets. The width of the fabric alone will be a few centimetres less than this.

Our Stylist Says

I really like this blackout roller blind for its sleek, minimal look and practicality. It works particularly well in modern or contemporary interiors where clean lines are key, but it can also complement more neutral, understated schemes. The dark colour enhances its blackout capability, making it ideal for bedrooms or media rooms where light control is a priority. For styling tips, keep surrounding décor simple to let the blind stand out, or pair it with crisp white linens and subtle metallic accents for a fresh, sophisticated feel. It’s straightforward to install and brings a practical yet stylish solution to any space needing light control and privacy.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
