Description

Product Information The Barbican range features a distinctive curved silhouette and stitched back detail for a retro-inspired look, supported by fibre wrapped foam seats for extra comfort. Upgraded springs The 9 gauge spring has changed to an 8 gauge in the corners of each sofa to stop you falling into the corner when sitting down; this will assist with prolonging the life of your sofa Demetra is our most natural aniline leather as it's buffed by hand and not treated with any dyes, pigments, oils or waxes. Finished with a light protective coat, this leather will naturally wear over time and is an excellent choice for everyday use. Worth knowing… As leather is a natural product, there are natural characteristics on each leather hide used to make our sofas. These could be things like brand marks, insect bites or wrinkles. A large sofa could be made with as many as four hides so there may also be some slight colour variation, however, we have strict guidelines to make sure any noticeable marks aren't in a prominent place. These distinctive qualities also mean that no two pieces of leather furniture will be exactly the same. Want to see it first? You may want to see and get a feel for the furniture in one of our shops before ordering. We'll be able to tell you where the range you'd like to view is on display. Working in partnership with The Reuse Network We're proud to work with The Reuse Network, an organisation that supports reuse charities across the UK who aim to alleviate poverty, reduce waste, tackle climate change and support vulnerable people and communities. We donate old sofas we no longer need, like those used as display models on our shopfloors, and we can also donate yours too on your behalf. We've been donating for over 10 years and in that time have collected over 47,000 sofas and supported over 13,000 households. When you order a new sofa in one of our shops ask a Partner about how to donate your old sofa, or check the Sofa Reuse box when ordering online. For a small fee we'll collect your pre-loved sofa and make sure it goes somewhere it's really needed, rather than ending up in landfill.

Our Stylist Says

This John Lewis & Partners sofa makes a fantastic statement piece for a range of interiors, especially those leaning towards modern Scandi or mid-century styles thanks to its light tan leather and minimalist silhouette. I love the versatility of the Demetra leather, which not only adds warmth but also ages beautifully with use. To style around it, consider pairing with neutral or earthy tones in cushions and throws to enhance its natural colour; adding textured fabrics can also create visual interest. Since it's a sofa bed, it’s perfect for adding practicality to smaller living spaces or guest rooms without compromising on style. Keep the surrounding decor simple and uncluttered to let the sofa be the focal point, and consider using low-profile coffee tables and minimal accessories for a sleek, contemporary look.

About John Lewis

Founded in 1864, John Lewis is a trusted and beloved brand where you can find a diverse range of furniture for every style and budget, alongside finding the perfect item that reflects your personal taste.

A Legacy of Innovation and Inclusion

John Lewis started as a small shop on London's Oxford Street in 1864. Today, it's part of a bigger family called the John Lewis Partnership, which also includes Waitrose stores.

What makes them special is that they're owned by their employees, known as 'Partners'. The idea, from the beginning, was to give everyone a say in how the business was run. With over 74,000 Partners (employees) at the heart of its operations, the essence of John Lewis's vision, from over a century ago, still echoes today being the largest employee-owned venture.

Adapting to Changing Times

Like many stores, John Lewis has had to change with the times. They've closed some shops but have grown their online business a lot, especially when more people started shopping online during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Their history is filled with key moments, like buying Peter Jones in 1905, adding Waitrose in 1937, and starting their website in 2001. They've always tried to adapt and stay relevant.

Commitment to a Greater Purpose

John Lewis believes in doing good and making the world a better place. This is seen in the way they treat their employees and customers. For example, in 2021, they were the first big UK store to give parents six months paid leave when they have a baby and two weeks paid leave if they lose a pregnancy. They've been around for over a century and always aim to do the right thing by everyone.
