Description

With an oiled solid oak frame and luxe velvet seat cushion, the Jed armchair gives a nod to mid-century design. Created exclusively for Habitat by furniture designer, David Irwin, it features a curved back and low seat for unrivalled comfort, and is finished with an emerald green velvet seat cushion which is crafted in Italy. Its simple and minimalist design will fit effortlessly into any space. For convenience, the cover can be easily removed for plumping and cleaning, but we recommend it’s cleaned professionally.

Our Stylist Says

This armchair’s blend of warm oak wood and rich green velvet makes it a versatile yet striking piece, ideal for bringing colour and texture to both contemporary and traditional interiors. I love how the wood’s natural tone adds warmth, while the velvet cushion provides a touch of luxury and comfort. It’s perfect for a reading nook, living room, or even a sophisticated bedroom corner. For styling, consider pairing it with muted or neutral furnishings to let the green pop, or add complementary accessories like gold accents or patterned cushions for a more eclectic vibe. Practical tips include placing it near a good reading light or adding a small side table to complete the cosy, inviting look.

About Habitat

Founded in 1964, Habitat are a renowned brand, and a go-to destination for modern and stylish furniture and home accessories.

The Birth of Habitat

In 1964, Sir Terence Conran founded Habitat in London, aiming to bring a fresh European touch to UK home decor.

The first store, located on Fulham Road in Chelsea, became the blueprint for all Habitat stores to come. The store stood out with its distinct design, and was famously known for selling affordable pasta storage jars just as the pasta market began booming in the UK.

Rapid Expansion & Legacy

Habitat grew swiftly in the UK during the 1960s and even crossed borders with its first international store in Paris in 1973.

The brand's journey through the decades saw various mergers and acquisitions, including its integration with Sainsbury's Group in 2017.

Habitat's innovation extended beyond products; they even launched a mail-order system in 1966 and initiated the concept of flat-pack furniture in 1971.

Celebrating its rich history, the brand marked its 50th anniversary in 2014 by collaborating with past designers and commissioning a special logo.

Innovation & Collaboration

Habitat has always been at the forefront of modern design. Throughout its history, the brand has been renowned for its collaborations with acclaimed artists and designers, ensuring it consistently offers unique, limited-edition collections.

Under the umbrella of the Sainsbury's Group since 2017, Habitat continues its tradition of merging contemporary aesthetics with functional design, solidifying its reputation as a leading name in home furnishings.
