I’m a fan of this dark mango bookcase for its solid-wood build and rich brown tone, which suits industrial, mid-century or rustic interiors equally well. The adjustable shelves let you mix tall objects, framed prints and paperbacks without wasted space, while the two lower drawers keep clutter out of sight. For styling, combine colourful books with neutral baskets or terracotta pots, and leave a couple of shelves deliberately sparse to balance the display.

In 1980, Chris Dawson set up a simple open-air market stall in Plymouth.
