The calming beach is highlighted by the simplicity of this technique. A bold black cut out is contrasted with the bright white background, drama is added with the a blue block of colour. The print is presented in a beautiful scored mount, emphasising the print, and is in a decorative MDF wrapped frame that was a contemporary black grained wood finish. Jacky Al-Samarraie uses uncomplicated images, sourced from the British countryside, and adds graphic bright blocks of colour to create an eye-catching design. She developed this style during her degree and created The Art Room company in 2007. Her bold landscape images can now be seen on cards, mugs and prints. Al-Samarraie didn't start life as an artist, she originally pursued a career in Social Services. It wasn't until her children grew up that she went back to develop her creative skills; receiving a first honours degree in Graphic Media Communication from Bradford College of Art Design & Textiles.
I love the Jacky Al-Samarraie - Coniston print for its modern yet timeless appeal. Its monochrome palette with a hint of colour makes it versatile and able to complement a range of interiors, from minimalist to more eclectic spaces. It works particularly well in living rooms or bedrooms where a calm, serene atmosphere is desired. When styling, consider placing it above a sofa or bed, paired with simple frames or behind a statement piece of furniture for added impact. For a balanced look, keep surrounding accessories minimal, letting the artwork really stand out. This piece is a great way to add visual interest without overwhelming the space, and its horizontal format lends itself well to wider wall displays or grouping alongside other art for a curated gallery feel.
