70 years after the launch of the first FDB furniture Hay is now taking on production of quite a few of the classic pieces. Functional and democratic design for the people was the thought behind the furniture production FDB started in the 1940's. The FDB collection from Hay consists of 5 chairs designed by Poul M. Volther, Jorgen Baekmark and Folke Paalsson as well as a table designed by Jorgen Baekmark.
I love this simple, clean-lined chair; it’s a versatile piece that works well in a range of interiors, from Scandi-inspired spaces to more contemporary or even traditional settings. Its light wood finish adds warmth without overpowering, making it a great addition for dining rooms or kitchens that benefit from a fresh, airy feel. Practical styling tips include pairing it with a streamlined table for a minimalist look or mixing textures with upholstered cushions to add comfort and visual interest. It’s also an excellent choice for creating a cohesive, understated aesthetic that can be easily adapted over time with accessories or colour accents.
