It works equally well in a loft-style bedroom, a contemporary hallway or even a snug home office, especially when you’re aiming for an unfussy, slightly rugged look.
Styling tip: top it with a simple ceramic lamp and a couple of green plants to soften the metalwork, then use slim trays or baskets on the open shelf for mail or small bits and bobs. Inside the drawers, add lightweight fabric boxes or dividers to keep socks, scarves or stationery neatly organised.
