To create his "In Between" collection, Finnish designer Sami Kallio found inspiration in wooden furniture designed in the 1950s by Hans J. Wegner, one of the founding fathers of Scandinavian design. This rectangular coffee table is therefore a respectful nod to the past, but is also resolutely forward-looking. Hand-made in Denmark, it is the result of remarkable cabinet-making work, rooted in the Scandinavian tradition. The solid oiled oak is a sturdy, tactile and warm material.
I love this coffee table for its sleek, understated design and natural wood finish, which adds warmth and texture to various interior styles. It works particularly well in Scandi-inspired or minimalist living spaces, where clean lines and simplicity are key. Its proportions make it versatile, ideal for both small and larger living rooms, and its lack of embellishments ensures it pairs effortlessly with a range of accessories, from bold statement pieces to subtle greenery. Practical styling tips include layering with textured rugs and placing neatly arranged books or ceramics on top to create an inviting, lived-in look. The timber finish also means it’s durable enough to withstand daily use, making it as functional as it is stylish.
