Description

Balanced on a dramatic black pedestal base, the beautifully crafted Imelda 8 seater oval walnut table is a show-stopping, statement design. Designed in house by Matt Long and exclusive to Habitat, the luxurious table has a large top with graceful curves and a gently chamfered edge. A key trend for AW17 was designing products around 3D shapes that suggest the idea of buildings and architectural detailing," says Matt. "The Imelda typifies this idea.

Our Stylist Says

This oval walnut table offers a sleek, contemporary look that’s versatile enough to suit both modern and transitional interiors. Its warm walnut finish adds richness and depth, making it an inviting centrepiece for larger dining spaces. I love how the cast-iron base brings a touch of industrial edge, providing stability without overwhelming the aesthetic. Styling it with a mix of neutral or patterned placemats, and pairing it with a variety of chair styles-perhaps upholstered or wooden-can craft a balanced, inviting dining area. To keep the space feeling open, consider minimal centrepiece accessories, allowing the table’s clean lines and materiality to stand out. It works particularly well in open-plan kitchens or large dining rooms where a statement piece is needed.

About Habitat

Founded in 1964, Habitat are a renowned brand, and a go-to destination for modern and stylish furniture and home accessories.

The Birth of Habitat

In 1964, Sir Terence Conran founded Habitat in London, aiming to bring a fresh European touch to UK home decor.

The first store, located on Fulham Road in Chelsea, became the blueprint for all Habitat stores to come. The store stood out with its distinct design, and was famously known for selling affordable pasta storage jars just as the pasta market began booming in the UK.

Rapid Expansion & Legacy

Habitat grew swiftly in the UK during the 1960s and even crossed borders with its first international store in Paris in 1973.

The brand's journey through the decades saw various mergers and acquisitions, including its integration with Sainsbury's Group in 2017.

Habitat's innovation extended beyond products; they even launched a mail-order system in 1966 and initiated the concept of flat-pack furniture in 1971.

Celebrating its rich history, the brand marked its 50th anniversary in 2014 by collaborating with past designers and commissioning a special logo.

Innovation & Collaboration

Habitat has always been at the forefront of modern design. Throughout its history, the brand has been renowned for its collaborations with acclaimed artists and designers, ensuring it consistently offers unique, limited-edition collections.

Under the umbrella of the Sainsbury's Group since 2017, Habitat continues its tradition of merging contemporary aesthetics with functional design, solidifying its reputation as a leading name in home furnishings.
