Description

Casual comfort has never looked so good. Available in deep navy, rich blue or soft grey upholstery, the Howell velvet bar stool is a contemporary addition to any kitchen or dining room. Benefiting from a foam filled seat and curvaceous back, it offers enduring support throughout mealtimes and evenings spent with loved ones. The bar stool’s compact design and slim frame allows it to be tucked away when not in use, while a handy footrest in shiny silver adds a pop of glamour. Giving a unique touch to the look, Howell’s legs are dressed in velvet to match the seat.

Our Stylist Says

I love the Howell Velvet Bar Stool for its sophisticated look and versatile colour scheme, making it a great addition to both contemporary and classic interiors. Its velvet upholstery adds a touch of luxury, perfect for home bars, kitchen islands, or stylish dining areas. To style it effectively, consider pairing it with sleek, minimalist surfaces or contrasting textures like matte black or natural woods to create visual interest. Practical tips include adding a layered lighting scheme above to highlight the velvet’s richness, and pairing it with cushions or throws for added comfort and colour pop. Its clean silhouette and durable frame mean it works well in both busy family homes and more formal entertainment spaces.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
