Hormazd Narielwalla is the second solo artist to take residency The Mansard Gallery. Titled ‘Pattern Symphony’, the exhibition comprises of Narielwalla’s distinct elegant abstract collages, and also features work from his most recent homage to David Bowie. By applying vintage tailoring patters to collaged forms of handmade papers, Narielwalla’s bold compositions use positive and negative space to create a rhythmic sense of movement, depicting the fluidity of the human form.
I love this piece for its bold, abstract pattern that can act as a focal point in a variety of interiors. It works particularly well in modern or eclectic spaces where its vibrant colours and geometric shapes can complement minimal furniture or be a statement against more subdued palettes. Practical styling tips include hanging it at eye level in a living room or hallway to create impact, and pairing it with simple, plain frames or mount boards to keep the focus on the artwork itself. It’s also versatile enough to work in contemporary offices or creative spaces, adding a dynamic visual element without overwhelming the surroundings.
