Hope 1931. The word daisy is derived from the term, day’s eye, referring to the flower’s cyclical opening and closing its petals, to sleep at night and awake in the morning when the sun shines. Thus, the daisy is a solar symbol that relates to new beginnings, fresh hopes, light, life energy, but also eternity. The daisy in Paganism represented the sun and stars because of their appearance. In Nordic countries, the daisy was pictured with Freya, the goddess of love, fertility, purity and hope. This plant is common to the Mediterranean and its name essentially means ‘excellent pearl’ in Latin because of its beautiful, pearly petals. Daisy teas are often used to treat bronchitis, coughs and inflammation, the flowers can also be applied to heal wounds on the skin.
I love this print for its charming, nostalgic feel-perfect for creating a cosy, inviting atmosphere. It works particularly well in relaxed interiors like country cottages, vintage-style schemes, or even modern spaces that need a touch of colour and character. To style it effectively, consider pairing it with simple, understated framing to let the artwork stand out, and position it at eye level in a living room or hallway to really catch the eye. It pairs beautifully with natural textures like wicker or linen, and contrasting light woods or soft pastel accents will help bring out the playful floral vibe. Overall, it’s a versatile piece that adds warmth and personality effortlessly.
