Description
Hope 1931. The word daisy is derived from the term, day’s eye, referring to the flower’s cyclical opening and closing its petals, to sleep at night and awake in the morning when the sun shines. Thus, the daisy is a solar symbol that relates to new beginnings, fresh hopes, light, life energy, but also eternity. The daisy in Paganism represented the sun and stars because of their appearance. In Nordic countries, the daisy was pictured with Freya, the goddess of love, fertility, purity and hope. This plant is common to the Mediterranean and its name essentially means ‘excellent pearl’ in Latin because of its beautiful, pearly petals. Daisy teas are often used to treat bronchitis, coughs and inflammation, the flowers can also be applied to heal wounds on the skin.
Our Stylist Says
I love this piece because of its playful yet vintage feel, making it a versatile addition to a variety of interiors. It works particularly well in relaxed, eclectic spaces or a cosy kitchen nook, adding a pop of colour and a touch of nostalgia. For styling tips, consider placing it above a neutral sofa or sideboard to let the print stand out, or pair it with other botanical or vintage-inspired accessories for a cohesive look. Framing it simply will enhance its charm without overwhelming your space, making it an easy way to introduce both colour and personality into your home.
