Description
Hope 1931. The word daisy is derived from the term, day’s eye, referring to the flower’s cyclical opening and closing its petals, to sleep at night and awake in the morning when the sun shines. Thus, the daisy is a solar symbol that relates to new beginnings, fresh hopes, light, life energy, but also eternity. The daisy in Paganism represented the sun and stars because of their appearance. In Nordic countries, the daisy was pictured with Freya, the goddess of love, fertility, purity and hope. This plant is common to the Mediterranean and its name essentially means ‘excellent pearl’ in Latin because of its beautiful, pearly petals. Daisy teas are often used to treat bronchitis, coughs and inflammation, the flowers can also be applied to heal wounds on the skin.
Our Stylist Says
I love this piece because it adds a cheerful, vintage-inspired touch to any space. The botanical print's vibrant yet muted colour palette works especially well in relaxed, bohemian or farmhouse interiors, but it can also brighten up a minimalist scheme when framed and placed thoughtfully. Practical styling tips include pairing it with simple wooden frames to emphasise its artful nature, and hanging it in a living room or hallway for a pop of colour. It also works well above a neutral sofa or on a feature wall, where it can serve as a focal point without overwhelming the room. This is a versatile print that brings a sense of freshness and charm wherever it’s displayed.
