Hope 1931. The word daisy is derived from the term, day’s eye, referring to the flower’s cyclical opening and closing its petals, to sleep at night and awake in the morning when the sun shines. Thus, the daisy is a solar symbol that relates to new beginnings, fresh hopes, light, life energy, but also eternity. The daisy in Paganism represented the sun and stars because of their appearance. In Nordic countries, the daisy was pictured with Freya, the goddess of love, fertility, purity and hope. This plant is common to the Mediterranean and its name essentially means ‘excellent pearl’ in Latin because of its beautiful, pearly petals. Daisy teas are often used to treat bronchitis, coughs and inflammation, the flowers can also be applied to heal wounds on the skin.
I love the Hope 1931 flower print for its cheerful, vintage-inspired charm. It works particularly well in cosy living rooms or bedrooms where a touch of colour and a hint of nostalgia can really brighten the space. Styling tips include pairing it with neutral furnishings to let the artwork stand out, or layering it with other vintage or botanical prints for a curated, eclectic look. Practical considerations include framing it simply for a modern touch or using a vintage-style frame to enhance its timeless appeal. Its versatile palette makes it easy to incorporate into both contemporary and traditional interiors, adding a lively yet understated focal point.
