Hope 1931. The word daisy is derived from the term, day’s eye, referring to the flower’s cyclical opening and closing its petals, to sleep at night and awake in the morning when the sun shines. Thus, the daisy is a solar symbol that relates to new beginnings, fresh hopes, light, life energy, but also eternity. The daisy in Paganism represented the sun and stars because of their appearance. In Nordic countries, the daisy was pictured with Freya, the goddess of love, fertility, purity and hope. This plant is common to the Mediterranean and its name essentially means ‘excellent pearl’ in Latin because of its beautiful, pearly petals. Daisy teas are often used to treat bronchitis, coughs and inflammation, the flowers can also be applied to heal wounds on the skin.
I love this print because of its lively yet delicate floral design, which adds a gentle touch of colour and nature-inspired charm to any space. It works beautifully in eclectic or modern interiors, especially when paired with neutral tones to let the colours stand out, or in a cosy nook alongside vintage finds. For practical styling, consider framing it in a sleek, matte frame for a contemporary look, or opt for a natural wood finish for a more relaxed feel. It’s a versatile piece that can elevate living rooms, bedrooms, or even hallways, bringing a touch of springtime serenity indoors.
