Description

The 1962 oil painting by Josef Albers, ‘Homage to the Square’ is beautifully transformed into an elegant rug by Christopher Farr, offering the unique opportunity to invest in a stunning encounter between art and textiles. Exquisitely hand-tufted by artisans using hand-spun wool, the rug recreates Albers’ original artwork, reflecting Albers’ belief that colour, as opposed to form, “is the primary medium of pictorial language. ”. Since 1988, Christopher Farr has been at the forefront of contemporary rug design. Utilising only the finest yarn and dyes and collaborating with the most talented weavers from across the world, the creation of a Farr piece is a painstaking process that results in rugs that are nothing less than works of art.

Our Stylist Says

I love this rug because of its bold, geometric design that instantly adds visual interest to any space. The 'Homage to the Square' works beautifully in modern or minimal interiors where it can act as a statement piece, but it also pairs well with neutral furnishings to add a pop of colour. Practical styling tips include placing it under a simple coffee table or in a living room corner to anchor the area. To keep it looking its best, avoid placing it in high-traffic spots that could cause wear, and consider layering with smaller textured cushions or throws that pick up the colours for a cohesive look. It’s ideal for those who want to introduce a splash of colour and a touch of contemporary art into their interiors.
