Swedish artist Johanna Forsberg works in metallic mesh. She sews and sculpts this aerial material, both flexible and rigid, to form evanescent creations. The metallic mesh rethinks the notion of structure and contours, dematerialises volumes and plays with light. The Heat pendant is made of a very fine steel mesh, similar to sparkling fabric. The result is magical: this industrial material has an unexpected flexibility, transparency and brilliance. This pendant looks like a light cumulus cloud. Incredibly light, Heat sports extraordinary irregular sculptural shapes, characterised by innumerable folds, creases, curves and bumps. Highly decorative, these folds also allow the light intensity to be filtered and modulated. The light filtered through the different thicknesses of the mesh produces a superb chiaroscuro effect. The lighting is vibrant, warm and subdued. With a simple touch of the hand, you can change the shape of the lampshade! Extremely hard-wearing, this flexible material adopts the desired shape by simple modelling by hand (by exerting pressure on one side or the other of the membrane). You’ll love this idea of a customisable lamp that can be changed at will.
I love this small pendant because it combines a contemporary, industrial feel with a touch of softness thanks to its flexible metal mesh design. Its versatile size (Ø 55 cm) works well in both compact and open spaces, making it ideal for kitchens, dining areas, or cosy living rooms. The material lends an organic, textured look that adds visual interest without overpowering a space. Styling it with minimalist furniture or pairing it with other understated fixtures creates a chic, modern aesthetic. Practical tip: use warm bulbs to highlight the unique texture and add a cosy glow, making it a functional statement piece in the room.
