The Wallis bed marks the one year anniversary of our ongoing collaboration with British Designer, Russell Pinch. Following the success of the Wallis sofa and armchair, we commissioned Russel to design a bed using his trademark silhouette. The result was a compact yet generous bed that mixes soft curves and crisp lines. The headboard has a slight curve that forms a delicate edge and the oak feet (available in natural, stained or black finish) are positioned at the very edge of the solid timber with foam and fibre structure. Entirely crafted in Britain, the Wallis Bed is available in a number of fabrics.
I’m a fan of this Heal’s green velvet bed (often just called the Wallis bed) because its clean-lined oak legs and softly curved headboard balance a bold colour with unfussy form. It sits equally well in a Scandi-inspired room - paired with pale woods, white walls and simple linens - or in a more eclectic scheme alongside brass wall lights and patterned cushions. For styling, I’d keep bedding in natural tones (linen or cotton in off-white or stone) and layer in textures - a chunky wool throw or a jute rug - to temper the velvet. Add matching oak-framed bedside tables and a couple of low-profile lamps to echo the leg height, and you’ve got a look that feels both grounded and lifted.
