Description
Wassily Kandinsky 1866–1944, was a Russian painter and art theorist. Kandinsky is generally credited as the pioneer of abstract art and painted ‘Cossacks’ in 1910–1. The title depicts Russian cavalrymen which you can recognise from their orange hats at the top and right of the painting. However Kandinsky believed paintings did not need to represent the real world. He felt that emotions could be expressed through the way colours and lines were arranged in a painting.

Heal's is a well-known British furniture store with a history that spans over 200 years. It began in 1810 when John Harris Heal and his son started a business for feather products but soon moved into furniture.
