Price History

Description

A ubiquitous design that still grabs your attention, the best-selling Fritz Hansen Series 7 Chair, first produced in 1955 by Arne Jacobsen is one of the most enduring designs of the 20th century. A truly timeless piece, the flowing form of the seat anticipates 1960s pop style, while the thin tubular legs nod to classic modernist industrial-inspired design. A culmination of Jacobsen's experimentation with pressure moulded, laminated furniture the swooping curves along the backrest mirror those of the seat, while a pinched, cutaway waistline on the lower back provides a graceful silhouette. Fully upholstered in Essential Leather or Velvet, this enduring classic balances character and versatility without overpowering the eye. Discreet circular base enhances Jacobsen’s clean, minimal aesthetic with refined, modern appeal. Crafted from 9 layers of pressure-moulded veneer for lasting strength, flexibility, and slender elegance. Fully upholstered in stain-resistant essential leather or velvet.

Our Stylist Says

I love the Heal's Series 7 chair for its sleek, mid-century inspired silhouette and fully upholstered comfort, making it a versatile addition to many dining spaces. It works particularly well in modern and Scandinavian interiors due to its clean lines and understated form, but it can also bring a touch of sophistication to more eclectic or classic settings. For styling, consider pairing it with a statement dining table to let its design shine or mixing it with a variety of other chairs for an eclectic look. Practical tips include choosing a durable, stain-resistant fabric for high-use areas and layering with soft cushions for added comfort and visual interest. Its timeless appeal ensures it remains a stylish and functional choice for both contemporary and traditional interiors.

About Heal's

Founded in 1810, Heal's are an iconic brand with a history of innovation, and are synonymous with timeless elegance and exceptional design.

A Rich Legacy in Furniture Design

Heal's is a well-known British furniture store with a history that spans over 200 years. It began in 1810 when John Harris Heal and his son started a business for feather products but soon moved into furniture.

By the 1900s, almost everyone in London knew Heal's for its great furniture. Interestingly, they were also among the first to sell electric lights in Britain. During World War II, their main store even helped by making parachutes for soldiers.

Influences and Design Philosophy

A significant part of Heal's story is Sir Ambrose Heal, who worked there for 60 years, from 1893 to 1953. He had a unique idea combine the beautiful designs from the Arts and Crafts Movement with affordable manufacturing.

This meant more people could buy well-designed furniture without breaking the bank. If you visit the Heal's store on Tottenham Court Road in London, you'll see a cool spiral staircase and a statue of a bronze cat, both of which show off the company's unique style.

Modern Expansion and Growth

While Heal's has a long history, they're always looking forward. In 2001, a company named Wittington Investments bought Heal's, helping it to grow and open stores in many cities, including Manchester and Leeds.

They've also started selling products online, aiming to be a modern e-commerce store with physical showrooms. Their main Tottenham Court Road store celebrated 200 years in 2018. Recently, they revamped it, making it even better for shoppers.
