The Metro collection by Piovenefabi for valerie_objects takes its inspiration from the iconic handrails of the Milan metro. First presented as a floor lamp at the 2017 Chicago Architecture Biennial, the design has evolved into a playful collection of lighting including the Metro La Tre Table Lamp. Piovenefabi has deconstructed the original design into its essential geometric forms, reassembling them to create three characterful table lamps and a coordinating wall light.
I love the metro lamp for its playful yet contemporary silhouette, making it a versatile addition to various interiors. Its bold colour and sculptural form work particularly well in modern, minimalist, or eclectic settings where it can serve as both a functional light source and an eye-catching statement piece. Practical tips include placing it on a side table in a living room or as a bedside lamp to add a pop of colour and personality. Its compact size also makes it suitable for desks or reading nooks, where it can bring a touch of modern design flair without overwhelming the space.
