Description
Statement-Making. Design-led. A future icon. These are just a few of the words that have been used to describe the new Isola range of upholstery. The pieces are the brainchild of Lucy Kurrein, an up and coming London-based designer who created this stunning range exclusively for Heal’s. A highly contemporary collection, Isola is one of our most forward-thinking ranges and would be right at home in the modern design shows of Milan and Paris. Lucy was influenced by natural landscapes such as the solitary floating islands that offer a place of refuge to passers-by. The sweeping lines and elegant silhouette are reminiscent of the large stretches of sand you find on a deserted beach. The Isola range uses a mixture of different foam fillings, including a luxury memory foam, offering supreme comfort and support. The backrest features subtle seam detailing to emphasise its curvaceous silhouette and its generous seat is supported by refined metal legs in gun metal black. The small and large ottoman echoes the shape of the armchair and sofa creating a beautiful synergy between the pieces.
Our Stylist Says
I love the Heal's Isola 3-seater in Siena Cotton - it offers a sleek, modern silhouette that works especially well in contemporary and minimalist interiors, as well as softer, more eclectic schemes. Its dusky pink hue adds a subtle touch of warmth and sophistication, while the bronze feet bring a hint of elegance and contrast. This sofa is versatile enough to pair with textured cushions, statement rugs, or layered throws for a cosy feel, and it balances style with practicality - ideal for both relaxed family spaces and stylish living rooms. For styling tips, consider keeping surrounding decor neutral to let the sofa’s colour stand out, or add bolder accessories in complementary shades like deep greens or muted golds to create a cohesive look.

About Heal's
A Rich Legacy in Furniture Design
Heal's is a well-known British furniture store with a history that spans over 200 years. It began in 1810 when John Harris Heal and his son started a business for feather products but soon moved into furniture.
By the 1900s, almost everyone in London knew Heal's for its great furniture. Interestingly, they were also among the first to sell electric lights in Britain. During World War II, their main store even helped by making parachutes for soldiers.
Influences and Design Philosophy
A significant part of Heal's story is Sir Ambrose Heal, who worked there for 60 years, from 1893 to 1953. He had a unique idea combine the beautiful designs from the Arts and Crafts Movement with affordable manufacturing.
This meant more people could buy well-designed furniture without breaking the bank. If you visit the Heal's store on Tottenham Court Road in London, you'll see a cool spiral staircase and a statue of a bronze cat, both of which show off the company's unique style.
Modern Expansion and Growth
While Heal's has a long history, they're always looking forward. In 2001, a company named Wittington Investments bought Heal's, helping it to grow and open stores in many cities, including Manchester and Leeds.
They've also started selling products online, aiming to be a modern e-commerce store with physical showrooms. Their main Tottenham Court Road store celebrated 200 years in 2018. Recently, they revamped it, making it even better for shoppers.
