Description
Statement-Making. Design-led. A future icon. These are just a few of the words that have been used to describe the new Isola range of upholstery. The pieces are the brainchild of Lucy Kurrein, an up and coming London-based designer who created this stunning range exclusively for Heal’s. A highly contemporary collection, Isola is one of our most forward-thinking ranges and would be right at home in the modern design shows of Milan and Paris. Lucy was influenced by natural landscapes such as the solitary floating islands that offer a place of refuge to passers-by. The sweeping lines and elegant silhouette are reminiscent of the large stretches of sand you find on a deserted beach. The Isola range uses a mixture of different foam fillings, including a luxury memory foam, offering supreme comfort and support. The backrest features subtle seam detailing to emphasise its curvaceous silhouette and its generous seat is supported by refined metal legs in gun metal black. The small and large ottoman echoes the shape of the armchair and sofa creating a beautiful synergy between the pieces.
Our Stylist Says
I love this sofa for its versatile, contemporary look and the rich leather finish which adds warmth and texture to a space. It works particularly well in modern and industrial interiors, but with the leather’s earthy tone, it can also bring a grounded feel to more minimal or even rustic setups. The leather’s stonewash Toffee finish creates a lived-in, casual vibe, making it ideal for a relaxed lounge or family room. Practical styling tips include pairing it with mixed textures like a wool throw or velvet cushions for added comfort, and accessorising with metallic or dark wood accents to enhance its bronze feet. Its sleek, understated silhouette also makes it easy to style with statement armchairs or a patterned rug for a more curated look.

About Heal's
A Rich Legacy in Furniture Design
Heal's is a well-known British furniture store with a history that spans over 200 years. It began in 1810 when John Harris Heal and his son started a business for feather products but soon moved into furniture.
By the 1900s, almost everyone in London knew Heal's for its great furniture. Interestingly, they were also among the first to sell electric lights in Britain. During World War II, their main store even helped by making parachutes for soldiers.
Influences and Design Philosophy
A significant part of Heal's story is Sir Ambrose Heal, who worked there for 60 years, from 1893 to 1953. He had a unique idea combine the beautiful designs from the Arts and Crafts Movement with affordable manufacturing.
This meant more people could buy well-designed furniture without breaking the bank. If you visit the Heal's store on Tottenham Court Road in London, you'll see a cool spiral staircase and a statue of a bronze cat, both of which show off the company's unique style.
Modern Expansion and Growth
While Heal's has a long history, they're always looking forward. In 2001, a company named Wittington Investments bought Heal's, helping it to grow and open stores in many cities, including Manchester and Leeds.
They've also started selling products online, aiming to be a modern e-commerce store with physical showrooms. Their main Tottenham Court Road store celebrated 200 years in 2018. Recently, they revamped it, making it even better for shoppers.
