I’m a fan of the Devon armchair in mulberry velvet because its curved arms and deep seat bring both comfort and a touch of luxury without feeling ostentatious. The rich hue works brilliantly in modern schemes - think clean-lined sofas, brass or black metal accents - and it also sits happily in more classic settings alongside dark wood furniture.
For styling, balance its intensity with neutral walls or soft greys, then layer in a contrasting cushion (a mustard wool or a geometric print works well). Elevate the look by placing it next to a slimline floor lamp and a small oak side table for a cosy reading corner. Keep the beech legs visible by using a low-pile rug so the stain tone can shine through.

Heal's is a well-known British furniture store with a history that spans over 200 years. It began in 1810 when John Harris Heal and his son started a business for feather products but soon moved into furniture.
By the 1900s, almost everyone in London knew Heal's for its great furniture. Interestingly, they were also among the first to sell electric lights in Britain. During World War II, their main store even helped by making parachutes for soldiers.
