If self-care had a physical form, it'd be the thoughtful, functional homeware by Slowdown Studio. Each of their collaborative, artistic pieces is designed to make you take a minute – breathe it in. The Hazlewood Throw was designed by Berlin-based artist and designer Raby Florence-Fofana – one of the twelve winners of the 2019 Slowdown Art Comp. All Slowdown Studio woven blankets are spun from 100% USA-grown cotton, and this one's made from a 70% recycled cotton blend – sustainable as well as soul-sparking. Their heavy weight makes them just as at home on your sofa as hung on your wall as unusual art.
I really like the Hazlewood Throw for its bold, modern design and versatile colour palette, which makes it a fantastic layering piece in various interiors. It works especially well in contemporary or Scandinavian-inspired spaces, adding warmth and visual interest without overwhelming the room. Practical styling tips include draping it over the back of a sofa or armchair for a relaxed look, or folding it at the foot of a bed to introduce colour and texture. Its size and design also lend themselves well to casual, laid-back styling in living rooms and bedrooms, making it both functional and decorative.
