It’s ideal in farmhouse or Scandi-inspired kitchens and pairs nicely with a simple plank table, but it also slots into more contemporary schemes when you contrast it with industrial lighting or a sleek marble top.
For styling, layer on a couple of textured cushions in natural linen or wool - think muted terracotta or soft grey - to break up the hard lines. Under the bench, tuck in a low jute runner to add warmth and protect your floor. It also works brilliantly as extra seating in a hallway: add a slim storage basket beneath for scarves and throws, then hang a mirror above to complete a functional, welcoming spot.
