Description

The Concrete Effect 90-180cm Flip Top Extending Dining Table and 2 Aria Beige Fabric Dining Chairs set blends raw beauty with refined comfort. The Halmstad table, with its concrete-look top and brushed stainless steel legs, transforms from an intimate square to a welcoming rectangle - perfect for anything from quiet dinners to lively gatherings. Its fluid lift-and-slide mechanism makes hosting effortless. Paired with the Aria chairs, wrapped in soft beige fabric and cradled by sleek powder-coated frames, this set offers more than practicality. It invites moments, memories, and conversations - where form meets function, and every meal feels a touch more poetic

Our Stylist Says

I love this dining table set for its clean, contemporary look that’s versatile enough to suit a range of interiors. The grey concrete effect top adds an urban, industrial vibe, while the simple lines make it suitable for both minimalist and more cosy, layered schemes. It works particularly well in urban apartments or kitchens with a modern aesthetic, but can also be softened with warm accessories like textured placemats, soft-toned ceramics, or even cosy throws draped over the chairs. Practical styling tips include pairing it with mixed materials-think wooden or rattan chairs for a touch of warmth or textured cushions to add personality. Its adjustable length makes it flexible for both casual family meals and more formal dinner gatherings, ensuring it remains a functional part of your living space.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
