Description

The Concrete Effect 90-180cm Flip Top Extending Dining Table and 2 Aria Beige Fabric Dining Chairs set blends raw beauty with refined comfort. The Halmstad table, with its concrete-look top and brushed stainless steel legs, transforms from an intimate square to a welcoming rectangle - perfect for anything from quiet dinners to lively gatherings. Its fluid lift-and-slide mechanism makes hosting effortless. Paired with the Aria chairs, wrapped in soft beige fabric and cradled by sleek powder-coated frames, this set offers more than practicality. It invites moments, memories, and conversations - where form meets function, and every meal feels a touch more poetic

Our Stylist Says

The Halmstad dining table set is a great choice for creating an airy, contemporary dining space. I love its versatile grey concrete effect surface, which pairs well with both neutral and bold colour schemes, making it suitable for modern, minimal, or even industrial interiors. The extension feature offers practicality for larger gatherings without compromising on style, while the Aria chairs add a touch of softness with their upholstered, neutral-toned design. When styling, consider layering with textured tableware, a statement centrepiece, or contrasting textiles to add visual interest. This set works particularly well in open-plan kitchens or dining rooms aiming for a clean yet inviting aesthetic, and its neutral palette makes it easy to update with accessories over time.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
