I love how the Halmstad sideboard combines a concrete-effect top with warm walnut-tone doors for texture without bulk. Its clean lines and hidden handles suit Scandi, mid-century and contemporary schemes equally well. Use it as a dining buffet or media unit, styling the top with a trio of ceramic vases, a framed print and a low-leaf plant to vary height. Group accessories in odd numbers, leave one door slightly ajar to hint at storage, and anchor the piece with a slim woven rug beneath.

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Sustainability at the Forefront
From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.
Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.
Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.
