Description

Design. Tap into the must-have rattan trend of the moment with the Hague console table in black, featuring beautifully handwoven wicker drawer fronts set against smart stained wood. Guaranteed to capture your guests’ attention in the hallway, living room and beyond, this console table has an incredibly distinctive look that juxtaposes black oak and natural cane for a modern take on a vintage classic. The table’s slim proportions are neat and refined, with space inside and on top to keep your daily essentials easily at hand. However you choose to style it, the Hague will not disappoint. Also available in natural for a softer touch.

Our Stylist Says

The Hague console table is a sleek, versatile piece that works particularly well in contemporary or mid-century inspired interiors. I love its bold black finish paired with the rattan-style drawer fronts, adding texture and visual interest without overwhelming the space. It’s perfect for smaller hallways, living rooms, or even as a stylish bedside table. Practical styling tips include keeping the surface clear for a statement lamp or decorative objects, while using the drawers for storing everyday essentials to keep the top tidy. Pairing it with neutral tones or contrasting colours can really make it stand out, and it lends itself well to both minimalist and eclectic schemes.

About Barker and Stonehouse

Founded in 1946, Barker and Stonehouse offer a diverse range of stylish and timeless pieces. From contemporary to traditional designs, Barker and Stonehouse brings sophistication and comfort to every room.

A Remarkable Journey

Born from the vision of two young RAF men, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse, Barker and Stonehouse emerged as a beacon of hope, infusing post-war Britain with a hint of glamour. Starting from a single store in Stockton on Tees, their entrepreneurial spirit led to rapid expansion, opening multiple stores across the region.

Their fast growth was fueled not only by their flair for business but also by their dedication to innovation. The business transformed over the years, adapting to the changing landscapes of retail, all while preserving its charm and values. By 2021, they marked an impressive 75 years in the industry, a testament to their enduring commitment to quality and customer service.

Sustainability at the Forefront

From the very start, Barker and Stonehouse has held a deep commitment to the environment. This devotion was showcased through initiatives such as the Trees4Trees Project, a reforestation effort in Indonesia.

Ensuring that for every tree used in their products, more than two were replanted, nearly 1.5 million trees have been restored under this initiative.

Their Knaresborough store, one of the greenest retail stores in the UK, further underscores their dedication to sustainable practices. As a cherry on top, by 2021, the company achieved the status of "Carbon Neutral Plus", making them a trailblazer in the furniture industry.

Innovative Spaces and Expanding Horizons

Over the decades, Barker and Stonehouse didn't just expand in number, but in the quality and innovation of their spaces. From opening their iconic store in Battersea, London, which beautifully preserved the characteristics of an old candle factory, to their latest state-of-the-art Gateshead store in 2023, every location tells a story.

They have also ventured into digital realms, ensuring a vast online presence and offering a wide range of products to customers all over the UK. Their partnerships, like the one with Fenwick in 2021, illustrate their adaptability and constant quest to reach new audiences.
