Description

Out of this world. The Sputnik floor lamp is a real statement piece with genuine satellite-like charm. Finished in American gold with 6 clear glass shades and adjustable arms, this unique lamp creates a soft, warm ambience. It's perfect for brightening up dark corners and the in-line switch makes it easy to turn off and on. The generous 1.5 metre cord length means this lamp can be placed in spaces others can't reach. We have lift off.

Our Stylist Says

I love this Sputnik-style floor lamp for its modern yet slightly retro aesthetic which adds a touch of glamour to any space. Its gold finish makes it a statement piece that works particularly well in contemporary or eclectic interiors, but it can also add warmth and sophistication to more minimalist schemes. Practical styling tips include positioning it in a corner to create a cosy reading nook, or using it as a centrepiece in a living room with seating arranged around it. Pair with textured rugs, plush cushions, or matte black accents to allow its metallic finish to truly stand out, and consider dimming the bulbs for a versatile ambience.

About Habitat

Founded in 1964, Habitat are a renowned brand, and a go-to destination for modern and stylish furniture and home accessories.

The Birth of Habitat

In 1964, Sir Terence Conran founded Habitat in London, aiming to bring a fresh European touch to UK home decor.

The first store, located on Fulham Road in Chelsea, became the blueprint for all Habitat stores to come. The store stood out with its distinct design, and was famously known for selling affordable pasta storage jars just as the pasta market began booming in the UK.

Rapid Expansion & Legacy

Habitat grew swiftly in the UK during the 1960s and even crossed borders with its first international store in Paris in 1973.

The brand's journey through the decades saw various mergers and acquisitions, including its integration with Sainsbury's Group in 2017.

Habitat's innovation extended beyond products; they even launched a mail-order system in 1966 and initiated the concept of flat-pack furniture in 1971.

Celebrating its rich history, the brand marked its 50th anniversary in 2014 by collaborating with past designers and commissioning a special logo.

Innovation & Collaboration

Habitat has always been at the forefront of modern design. Throughout its history, the brand has been renowned for its collaborations with acclaimed artists and designers, ensuring it consistently offers unique, limited-edition collections.

Under the umbrella of the Sainsbury's Group since 2017, Habitat continues its tradition of merging contemporary aesthetics with functional design, solidifying its reputation as a leading name in home furnishings.
